Who we serve

The HOSPITAL ALIGNED MEDICAL PRACTICE

Hospital-owned or aligned medical practices straddle a continuum between perceived independence from their corporate sponsor to true integration between the health system, providers and the patients they serve.

Since the mid-80s, hospitals have struggled to determine whether owned practices and employed physicians are effective, profitable referral drivers, or a necessary evil – generating financial losses that must be made up downstream.

Much has been written about hospitals losing great sums of money on their ambulatory clinics, and by the late 90s, many washed their hands of this unique business by divesting.

Following the Affordable Care Act (ACA) reform efforts, hospitals began acquiring medical practices again, fueled by reimbursement changes and the move toward value-based reimbursement. Clinical integration and physician alignment became vital to the search for lower costs and quality care. Today, the primary care practice is being reinvented as the center of patient care through Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) models.

One of the greatest challenges associated with practice acquisitions is the cultural transformation needed to sustain a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship between the practitioners, staff, and the hospital.

How V2V Can Help

In our experience, “value” encompasses much more than reimbursement, and should exist as an organizational imperative across all points of the hospital-owned medical practice network. From operational efficiency to the customer experience, “value” should be embraced as the standard from the front desk to the clinical care teams and throughout.

V2V Management Solutions has the expertise to help hospital aligned medical practices establish value-driven benchmarks. We identify and change workflows to achieve successful reimbursement under the latest models. Our value-driven approach helps these practices improve performance in all areas of the business.

“Knowing it is time to reshape your current reality is the first step to transformation. When we contacted V2V, our goal was to innovate our clinic network from all aspects; integration, structure, financial controls and leadership. Michelle and her team at V2V helped us develop a well-defined plan. In transformational management one hears Quality times Acceptance equals Results (Q*A = R). Along with the quality of recommendations, V2V worked diligently to garner both input and acceptance from providers and staff. This is what I believe will ensure long-term, sustainable success for our clinics in a very uncertain time..”

“Michelle Wier, CMPE, worked with our EMS program for a year, providing interim financial management at a crucial time for our hospital district based agency. Her exemplary work included budget and tool development, redesign of our financial statements, and a compensation analysis for all EMS positions. She helped provide crucial accountability for our internal accounting systems, contract negotiation support and a streamlining of our in house processes and reporting structures. I highly recommend her work product and greatly appreciate her astuteness and work ethic.”
